Do I need an Australian driving licence to rent a Ute of 4WD?
To drive an Avis vehicle in Australia,
(a) Drivers must hold a current and valid licence (not being a restricted licence, learner’s licence or provisional licence) to drive the category of Vehicle for at least 12 consecutive months.
If the licence is not in English, an International Drivers Licence is required.
(b) International Driver licences are accepted on “face value” but must be in English, or if not in English, the renter must have an English translation thereof.
Digital Drivers Licences (DDLs) issued by a Verification Authority in an Eligible Country MAY be accepted by the Avis as a valid form of identification for all purposes in which physical driver's licenses are currently accepted, PROVIDED that they meet ABGs security and authenticity requirements issued by the issuing Verification Authority. What is the age requirement to rent a UTE in Australia?
For Australia, the minimum age for rentals is 21 years of age, EXCEPT those under 25 years can ONLY rent:
- Passenger vehicles in Groups A - Economy Manual , Group B - Compact, Group C - Intermediate, Group S - Compact SUV and Group K - Intermediate SUV; and
- Commercial vehicles in Group A - 4x2 Single Cab Tray, Group C - 1 Tonne Van, Group F - 4.2m Moving Van, Group G - 4.2m Tray, Group H - Hitop Van and Group L - 4x2 Dual Cab Tray.
What are you supposed to do before you return a rental UTE?
When you return your rental car to Avis, you must do so with a full tank of fuel. We also ask that you remove all your personal belongings from the vehicle. Finally, please return the car to us in a clean state, ready for the next customer to drive.
Can I return a UTE to the location before or after business hours?
There are select Avis locations that allow returns outside of business hours. Please contact the return location directly or contact the Avis Reservations team to check if this is possible on 136 333.
Do I get a refund if I return my rental UTE early?
If you return the vehicle before the original return date (early return), you will not be refunded any portion of your payment. This does not detract from your rights as a consumer under applicable consumer protection legislation, including the Australian Consumer Law.
Can I return my rental UTE to a different location?
Avis allows one way rentals between select locations. Enter your details in the search widget to see available options. If you have an existing reservation, you can amend your booking online by clicking this link and following the prompts or on our mobile app. If you have collected your car and are having trouble amending your booking online, please contact the location you collected the vehicle from to check one way options.
